Crystolon Stone (A) – Man-made with silicon carbide abrasives. This coarser graded stone is best for heavy stock removal situations such as re-shaping an edge, eliminating chips or nicks, or where producing a quick edge is more important than the fineness of the edge.
India Stone (B) – Man-made with aluminum oxide abrasives. This medium graded stone is best used as a transition step to final edge sharpening. Good for light stock removal and providing a smoother cutting edge.
Hard Translucent Arkansas - HTA (C) – Quarried, graded, and precision cut from the finest Ozark novaculite (silicon quartz) deposits, this natural stone is the finest grained and most dense of all oil stones. It imparts the keenest, most polished, and razor-like edge.
Honing Oil – Norton Honing Oil is recommended as the lubricant for these stones.
