Best suited for cutting close to flat surfaces without interference from the saw back or your hand, such as when trimming a dowels or tenons flush with the surface.  Gets into more difficult spots where other saws cannot. Blade is "reversible" for both right handed and left handed cuts.

High carbon steel blade, with brass back and rosewood handle. Blade is 10 long x .020" thick with 15 tpi. Cross-cut pattern. Crown Tools. Sheffield, England.
