Planemaker Steve Knight has gleaned the best ideas from a variety of planemaking traditions and styles, and blended them into handplanes like no others. These are not "display" pieces. These planes have been made to be used, as evidenced by the ocassional stray toolmark and, more importantly, the wide acclaim they have received for their performance. The laminated style bodies are made from Purpleheart and have an Ipe sole for extreme wear resistance and slickness.

The 1/4" thick Starrett tool steel blades are hardened to Rc. 62. The versions we offer here have a user friendly brass adjuster instead of the traditional wooden wedge. Each model has an adjustable throat to produce very fine shavings and compensate for wear. Every plane is tested before it leaves the shop and, except for some minor adjustments, comes tuned and ready to use.
