Norton Waterstone Flattening Stone & Prep Stone

Because of the softness of the material, waterstones do wear concave with use and require periodic re-flattening.

The Flattening Stone (A) has a coarse silicon carbide to quickly cut the stone, and diagonal grooves to promote efficient removal of swarf. Measuring 9" x 3" x 3/4" , it is engineered for extreme flattness. Works with all grits of waterstones.

The Prep Stone (B) is an artificial stone used for raising an edge cutting slurry on fine grit stones. It evens high spots, and reduces the frequency of intensive flattening of stones. Measures 20mm x 20 mm x 3".
