#6 Jack Plane: The #6 has a 2-3/8" blade and a longer 18" body. It can be adjusted for either heavy stock removal, but is best for flattening and smoothing wider panels.
As with all the bigger planes, the extra length helps the plane to span the valleys and take off the peaks. The ductile cast iron bodies are fully stress relieved to prevent distortion of the plane. Import
This plane is nearly identical in design to it's Stanley/Record counterparts. With the exception of some cosmetic differences you'd be hard pressed to tell them apart. So, what's the biggest difference? The cost. It's 30-50% less than the British made planes, yet it has all the features you would expect on a top quality plane including: precisely machined cast body; a black Japanned finish; beautiful Indian rosewood tote and knob; adjustable cap iron; lateral adjusting lever; rear frog adjustment; etc.
