Japanese Handsaw - Small Ryoba

Japanese Handsaw - Small Ryoba

This double-sided multi-purpose saw has coarse teeth on one side for ripping, and fine teeth on the other for cross-cutting.

The Fine cross-cut side of the saw has small and large alternating teeth with approximately 17 teeth total per inch.

The Coarse ripping side of the blade has a few finer teeth at the heel to start the cut. The teeth then gradually decrease in number as they go toward the toe. It starts with about 10 tpi at the heel and ends with about 8 tpi at the toe.

The blade is 8-1/4" (210 mm) long, and .45mm thick.

To discover the secret of it's superior performance, take it in hand and make a cut. Since it cuts on the pull stroke, it will not buckle; a thinner blade can be used; and a finer kerf results.

The blade cuts incredibly fast due to it's extreme hardness (52-54 Rockwell), and unique shark-like teeth. The rattan-wrapped handle allows either a one-hand or two-handed grip. Replaceable blade eliminates the need for re-sharpening. Japan
